I understand there is more than one method for commercial carpet cleaners to clean carpet; steam, chemical, soap and water, is one method better than the other? My tap water is loaded with minerals (mostly calcium and magnesium) so I don’t want to use it.

Are those Shark type steam cleaners worth the money? The kind that clean grout and sanitize I mean. Are Shark products good? We’ve not had good luck with them.

Can you use one of those carpet cleaners or do you need to use a steam cleaner if so how do you scrub the stain out of the fabric or does the steam just do it? Bought a used sofa that didn’t see all the stains on it until we got home.

Apparently no other product can kill fleas in some state of their development cycle, but steam can burst their shell. I am taking a heavy class load and have no time for this. I need something FAST, EASY, that gets steam to temps greater than 140 degrees (needed to kill fleas). I have hardwood floors so I want one that does not drench the floor. Since I have animals I would like the cleaning aspect as well…like if I am going to spend the money and have an appliance cluttering up, I would want it to be able to clean grout too. I am not expecting it to clean everything in my house, just floors. Carpets are a don’t care…I have throw rugs and throw them in the wash. I do not want to pre-mop or vacuum. I want one product to do it all. I am not very picky but it has to be hot to kill fleas and it has to do at least a fair job of cleaning so I don’t have to do it twice. I don’t want to spend over 0. And it should be light weight (or it won’t be easy). I don’t think I ‘d mind refilling it partway in order to keep the unit light. The right product might turn me from an indifferent housekeeper into a clean freak. Thanks for any help!
I bombed, it did no good. Only steam can kill fleas in all stages of growth. I guess I will premise spray to kill the adults, then steam to kill everything else.

I bought an amazing leather jacket at an vintage store in NYC yesterday, I tried it on and it was perfect fitting so I bought it, it was brown leather with faux fur lining "like a rug type texture" for comfort , it was very retro hipster type. Thing is, When I got on the train going home I started getting ichy all over!! "On arms specially" I am thinking its from the lining of the jacket, After-all it was 2nd hand vintage so I dont know what the original owners did or didnt do / had or dont have? It itched like as if I had flea’s "Like a dog, and no I dont know what thats like" Well, I figured I would give it to the dry cleaners and have them dry clean it "Vaccine the jacket" , Question is , Do Dry Cleaners actually wash the jacket or do they just pressed it up ?? I asked because most of the time I dry clean stuff, it just seem like they just steam press it and starch it to look crisp. Also because I wanna wear this jacket but I dont wanna catch the itch, AGAIN!!!

I just finished a Head Gasket job on a 108k mile 96 Chevy Camaro.
This is my first time doing anything except for simple bolt ons and routine maintenance
(I realize not a great way to ease my self into being a home mechanic, but i didn’t have 1000 to drop)
Everything is back together and no leaks…however two problems
1) Cylinder 1 is misfiring
-passed a compression test at 100psi
-tried a brand new spark plug wire – no luck
-tried a brand new spark plug – no luck
-watched it spark when cranking
*could the coil have gone partially bad, at such a minor extent that it still
sparks, just not well enough to ignite the fuel? it was moved around and
probably bumped a few times
*could my fuel injector have gotten clogged while it was pulled out….note there is
a dry black carbon residue on the spark plug when pulled out after
misfiring….not wet as one might expect
2) when i let it run a few minutes to get the oil circulating and forced myself to ignore the unhealthy noise due to the misfire….the back of the engine bay started to leak white smoke/steam, i used various cleaners (including an aerosol engine cleaner) and plenty of lacquer thinner while cleaning surfaces. the smoke seamed to be coming from the general area of the right head/exhaust manifold but upon further investigation noticed a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust pipes (on the tail pipe side of where the exhaust pipes bolt to the exhaust headers)

I want to clean my house, especially carpet, by using heavy duty dry vapor steam cleaner (temp atleast 300 deg F, and pressure 100 psi). I was looking to rent such a steam cleaning equipment and i tried looking up at the nearby homedepot, krogers, walmart, etc but no success. I am clueless as where to go looking for it now. If I go for buying one, its very expensive. Any suggestions ?

We just moved to a new apartment and the carpet is not in great condition. There is some food caked in. What is the best shampooer to buy? I’m looking in the line of steam cleaners.
I have never heard of those brands. Is it available in the U.S?

When my carpets are cleaned at first, they are perfectly clean and I have a friend who owns a carpet company who doesn’t just steam clean the carpets. After a few months, the same stains seem to re-emerge from where they were before as if they were cleaned on the surface but re-surfaced.
I have 2 cats where I have cleaned hairballs, and a lot of throwing up, and I think that’s what the stains are from. I use the MIracle stuff for cat stains/odors and it seems to work at first, but again they come up especially in the hallway upstairs.
The rest of my my carpets are not bad, even after a year. I take good care of them and keep them as clean as possible but these round stains in various places make it look really bad! How can I make them go away permanently. I’m tired of hiring expensive carpet cleaners where they look great for a month or so; then these same spots seem to come back plus additional hairballs which I try to catch as soon as I can.
Thanks.
