Apparently no other product can kill fleas in some state of their development cycle, but steam can burst their shell. I am taking a heavy class load and have no time for this. I need something FAST, EASY, that gets steam to temps greater than 140 degrees (needed to kill fleas). I have hardwood floors so I want one that does not drench the floor. Since I have animals I would like the cleaning aspect as well…like if I am going to spend the money and have an appliance cluttering up, I would want it to be able to clean grout too. I am not expecting it to clean everything in my house, just floors. Carpets are a don’t care…I have throw rugs and throw them in the wash. I do not want to pre-mop or vacuum. I want one product to do it all. I am not very picky but it has to be hot to kill fleas and it has to do at least a fair job of cleaning so I don’t have to do it twice. I don’t want to spend over 0. And it should be light weight (or it won’t be easy). I don’t think I ‘d mind refilling it partway in order to keep the unit light. The right product might turn me from an indifferent housekeeper into a clean freak. Thanks for any help!
I bombed, it did no good. Only steam can kill fleas in all stages of growth. I guess I will premise spray to kill the adults, then steam to kill everything else.

We’re debating getting a new vacuum (hubby wants outrageously expensive Dyson) and maybe a steam cleaner like the Hoover All Terrain.
I don’t know if it wouldn’t just be better to hire Stanley Steamer a few times a year to do the job. I’m asking in Parenting because the whole reason we are needing all this for our carpets is our kids. I want to know how other parents with young children keep their floors clean.
Zorro, lol.
He’s got allergies and the pets and all are adding to it. He’s not one to complain so when he does I try to do something about it if i can. I just don’t know if spending 00 on carpet cleaning is the best way to use our money.

I have a 7 year old neutered male husky. We got him when he was 2 and had him neutered then. He had problems with marking in the past but nothing like this. My fiance died last year and my dog had to stay with various friends for a year until I got a new home. He was getting shuffled around everywhere so I know WHY he’s marking but I can’t stop it.
To make things worse, the home I bought had a faint scent of cat pee when I moved in and it got worse once I was living there. I’ve tried: steam cleaning the carpet twice, pouring on enzyme cleaners, and vinegar/water then baking soda and peroxide with dish soap. It helps but then the smell comes back.
Now I have my dog back and have him on Clomicalm for separation anxiety but he is marking in the house. It’s all over the house so confining him to one area won’t work. I walk him as much as I can but I have to work all day and can’t really quit my job. It’s too hot to keep him outside all day. I limit his water when I’m at work.
A squirt bottle does nothing. He can’t even feel it and just stares at me because he has so much fur. Also, I have NEVER actually seen him marking so I can’t even correct him. It’s tiny amounts so the carpet isn’t even noticeably wet when I get home but I can smell it. I’ve had people come in and walk him but it’s more of a behavioral issue so that doesn’t really help. I know the chances of breaking this habit are not real good. I love him and I don’t want to get rid of him, however I also don’t want a house that smells like pee.
I have another dog too so he already has a friend. He definitely has seperation anxiety. He is soaked in drool when I get home and stares out the window barking all day. He once broke out the glass in the window (which was closed) and jumped out from the second story window. If I put him in a cage he is way more hysterical and bleeding from trying to eat his way out of the cage when I get home. On higher doses of Clomicalm he does better but he drinks so much water he pees a huge puddle by the door as opposed to the regular spraying. He was abused before we got him and then lost one of his owners last year so it’s not his fault but it still is pretty irritating.

I am 8 and a half months pregnant and my boyfriend and I just moved into a new house in a new state, I dont know anyone here and I stay at home all day while he goes to work. Mind you that his job is pretty relaxed. When he gets home all he wants to do is play video games and watch tv or go spend money on things for the house. My stress level is already through the roof and I can’t do all the things a not so pregnant person can. He gets mad if I ask for help around the house and says that he will help and never does. I’m stuck carrying vacuums and steam cleaners up and down the stairs and moving heavy boxes with his things in them and of course I do all the laundry, dishes and typical cleaning. I think it might end our relationship if things don’t change soon. I don’t want to fight with him anymore. I appreciate that he works and I don’t right now but I can only do so much, I mean I cant even stand for more than 10 minutes at a time anymore. I just need some help in getting him to help me or at least show some appreciation for what i do in my condition. And leaving the house a mess until he cleans it is not a option, i’m in full blown nesting mode. Any suggestions will help I just feel like im going crazy here carrying his baby and not getting taken care of or helped out.
In my defense, we’ve been together a really long time and tried for two moths to get pregnant and he was never like this until we moved here. He used to do just as much around the house as me if not more. So as crazy as it sounds, things actually did change over night

Hi, we need to clean our carpet before moving out of our rented flat. It is just one area in the living room by the door. This part of the carpet is where you first tred after coming in from outside, so mud and building site dust (my BF is a bricklayer) has been trodden in, as well as some other stains like apple juice. Alos, when using a cheap carpet cleaner foam, my boyfriend didn’t sponge up the excess foam, so it seems to have left a whitish/yellow reside. The carpet is a dusty pink in colour (and quite old by the looks of it). We were thinking about buying a cheap steam cleaner for about £40 to do the job. Do you think this would work to get al the stains out? Also, can you add cleaning agents to steam cleaners or should you add them to the carpet? If so, what would you recommend?
Here’s the cleaner we’re going to buy http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50348724 – good as it also can steam wallpaper off of walls which we’ll need for our new flat!!
Also, from reading other questions – people seems to recommend oxyclean. Can I buy this in the UK – if so, where?
