What is the best method to clean carpet in my home?
I understand there is more than one method for commercial carpet cleaners to clean carpet; steam, chemical, soap and water, is one method better than the other? My tap water is loaded with minerals (mostly calcium and magnesium) so I don’t want to use it.

The best method of cleaning your carpets is hot water extraction. But, unless you know what you’re doing I’d advise hiring a professional company to do so.
